2010 EVENT & ENTRY DETAILS


Main Event

The 2010 Ropley 10k Road Race will take place on Sunday, 30th May, commencing at 11.00 am from St Peter's church, Ropley.

Entrants are required to be at least 15 years of age on 30th May.

The closing date for postal entries is Wednesday 26th May 2010. Entrants wishing to pre-register must ensure their entry forms are received by the organisers no later than this date.

Note : a £1.50 surcharge is payable for postal entries received after Sat 15th May.

All entrants pre-registered before Sat 22nd May are guaranteed a free event T-Shirt.

Entries will be permitted on the day, subject to a £3 surcharge and the maximum race limit of 500 being reached. Race entries will close promptly at 09:30am; note : this is 75 minutes earlier than previous years !

There will be a bar at the pavilion together with various catering and refreshments.

Children's Events

There will be three children's events, managed by the Ropley Youth Club :

  • A 3km 'fun run' on roads and fields for children between the ages of 9 and 14 years - Medal guaranteed for all pre-registered runners
  • 100 & 500 metre dashes around the Ropley Recreation Ground for children between the ages of 0 and 8 years

We would like to reassure parents that your child's safety is of utmost importance to us and would therefore draw your attention to the following :

  • The 100 & 500m events are all grass courses and the Recreation Ground is totally fenced off from the road - ie. it is a secure area
  • Race marshals will be stationed at various points around both courses to direct and help where necessary. St. John Ambulance will be in attendance and there will be someone to follow around at the back to mop up any stragglers !

Junior races to start as follows : 100m at 10:00; 500m at 10:05 and 3k at 10:15. The 3k will start from the Finish Line on the rec; and the 100m & 500m from the opposite side of the Rec to the Pavilion. All courses will use the same finish line as that for the main 10k event.

The Course Details page contains a route map of the 3k Fun Run, together with a Layout diagram of the recreation ground - which shows the approximate route and start positions of the 100m & 500m dashes.

There will be water at the finish, along with whatever we can rustle up in the way of fruit and/or energy bars. There will be a bar at the pavilion and various catering and refreshments after the main event.

Subject to the race limit of 200 being reached, we will accept entries on the day – for which there will be no surcharge. We recommend you enter in advance to secure a place.

If you would like an event T–Shirt, they are £4.00 and must be pre-ordered and paid for with your race entry.

All postal entries are to be received no later than Wednesday, 26th May 2010.
