Fri 18 June 2010 - Massage Team raise money for Toe in the Water ...
Students of the Adult Continuing Education, of Peter Symonds College, on their VTCT Level 3 Diploma in Sports Massage have provided pre and post race treatment for donations to charity at the Ropley 10k for the past two years. In order to qualify, students must complete a certain amount of ‘hands-on’ clinic time. Attending events such as this is invaluable, as it gives them the required experience whilst also presenting an opportunity to raise money for charity.
‘Toe in the Water’ (TITW) is the students chosen charity this year. TITW is a tri-service initiative which aims to inspire the men and women who have sustained often traumatic injuries, including the loss of limbs, to move beyond their disability and to become re-inspired by life through competitive sailing. It receives no statutory funding and relies entirely on voluntary contributions from individuals, trusts and companies. The students efforts, on 30th May 2010, raised £98.00 for TITW and they, and their tutor Louise Oram, would like to thank all those who generously contributed to this total.

Tues 15 June 2010 - Unidentified Runners in photos
There were 32 images either not sorted or where the competitor could not be readily identified due to their number being folded or not visible. These have now been reviewed and sorted.
The Unidentified Runners page lists runners previously unidentified in some photos.
All outstanding images have been uploaded to the appropriate album in the 2010 Photo Gallery – and there are now a total of 829 photos.
Tues 01 June 2010 - Ropley 10k 2010 Photographs
We have now prepared the main presentation of photos from the 2010 Ropley 10k Road Race.
Sorting of a small number images into their appropriate albums remains to be completed. These are images where the competitor could not be readily identified due to their number being folded/missing/etc. We will endeavour to identify as many of these as possible and upload them into the appropriate albums in due course.

Sun 30th May 2010 - Top Prize for Toby Lambert in the 2010 Ropley 10k

Supporters and onlookers at the 2010 Ropley 10k were entertained by the display of very close finish put on by Toby Lambert (Winchester & District AC) and Haggai Chepkwony (Bristol & West). Lambert put on a superb display of last minute strength and stamina to take this year's win from Chepkwony right on the finishing line. Both competitors recorded the same time, but Lambert was judged to have finished just ahead of Chepkwony by the referee and officials on the line. Fri 28 May 2010 - Race Day and Entries Update
Pre-registered entrants lists updated again – with data up to 27 May. Lists are available by surname, club and by entrant number on the Entrants page and are also available to download as PDF documents – which include an indication of whether your race number has been sent out or must be collected from the race entry desk on the day.
Online entry has been extended - entries are being accepted via www.runnersworld.co.uk up until Saturday - numbers are to be collected from the race registration desk.
Race control will be open for entries from around 9am and close at 9.30am for the main event. It would help if you could bring your completed entry form along with you. If you intend to enter on the day, please allow yourself ample time to park, make your way to race control and register.
This year’s main event will be started by Lady Mason, who is wife of the late Sir Frederick Mason, CMG. Sir Frederick, born on May 15, 1913, was British Ambassador to Chile, 1966-70, and the UN, 1971-73 and retired to live in the village of Ropley. He founded the Ropley Society and started the very first Ropley 10k. He died on January 18, 2008, aged 94. Read his Times Online Obituary.

Thur 27 May 2010 - Postal Entries Closed
Entry by post is now closed - we have in excess of 300 pre-registered competitors. Entry on the day will be available, subject to the race limit of 500. If you do want to register on the day, please arrive early to ensure your place - registration opens at 9.00am in the Village Hall. The Registration Desk will close at 9.30am and no further entries will be accepted after that time. Entries on the day will cost £15.00 for unaffiliated runners and £13.00 for affiliated UKA club runners.
Children’s events can also be entered on the day. Prices are 100m Dash - £2.00, 500m Dash - £3.00 & 3km Fun Run - £3.50.

Numbers and race programmes were posted on Saturday (22nd May) by 2nd class postage – so should be with runners shortly.

Thur 20 May 2010 - Postal entry closes 26th May !
For those of you not yet registered, you have until the closing date of Wed 26th May, (entry forms must be received by the organisers no later than this date).
Entries may be permitted on the day, subject to a £3 surcharge, (children's races excepted), and the maximum race limit of 500 being reached.
Race entry will close at 9:30am.
A £1.50 surcharge is now payable for postal entries – Please check entry details and ensure you enclose the correct fee with your entry form.

Mon 17 May 2010 - Submitted your entry form for this year's event ? ...
We realised there was an error in the post added on Sun 16 May regarding entries and deadlines, this has now been removed. Correct dates are shown below and the corresponding details on the 2010 Events page have also been amended. Apologies for any confusion.
A £1.50 surcharge is now payable for postal entries, (ie. those received after Sat 15th May). Please ensure you enclose the correct entry fee with your entry form.
Entrants pre-registered by Sat 22nd May are guaranteed a free event T-Shirt.
The closing date for postal entries is Wednesday 26th May 2010. Entrants wishing to pre-register must ensure their entry forms are received by the organisers no later than this date.
Entries will be permitted on the day, subject to a £3 surcharge and the maximum race limit of 500 being reached. Race entries will close promptly at 09:30. Note : this is 75 minutes earlier than previous years !

Pre and post event sports massage available on the day from the students of Adult Continuing Education of Peter Symonds College for donations to the Toe in the Water Charity. The team will located at the far end of the hall on the left hand side - and weather permitting, may also have their equipment set up on the Recreation Ground. In response to requests for more information regarding the children's events, the Course Details page now contains a route map for the 3k Fun Run, together with a Layout diagram of the recreation ground - which shows the approximate route and start positions of the 100m & 500m dashes.
